Name

Libertarian Organization Contact Administration Tool and Evaluation Manager

Purpose

This FileMaker Pro 3.0 database solution is intended for the exclusive use of the Libertarian Party and related organizations, Libertarian candidates and their staff for the purpose of increasing freedom. FileMaker Pro is available from Claris for IBM-PC and Apple computers and their clones. In anticipation of change recommendations, this version has not been thoroughly tested. Please evaluate its content, layout and functionality and advise. Eventually it will be split into more files to improve large database performance.

Description

This solution currently consists of two files. Libertarian List includes everything worth knowing about a prospect or member, including spouse, child and parent relationships (good for petition signature gathers to know if they live at the same address). Libertarian Measures (this file) has the reasons why prospects convert and members donate to the Party. A partial set of scripts exist to help organizations and candidates empirically determine the best outreach and solicitation methods.

Use

As prospects become libertarians and thence Libertarians, ask them what made them convert and update their record accordingly. By dividing the cost of an outreach effort by the number of its conversions, a cost/registration, or cost/member can be determined and compared with the productivity of other outreach methods. The bulk of outreach funds should be spent on the most productive method while a small amount of outreach funds are used to experiment with other methods in order to continuously improve the productive of ourtreach funds.

The same outreach method may convert the people from one Name Source (Registrar, Reason subscriber list, etc.) more readily than another Name Source. Averaging the Name Source results over all of the outreach methods will indicate which Name source is the most productive. Get more names from the best source.

All requests for donations should be coded so this file can be updated to accurately reflect the results when the responses are processed. Re-use as-is or slightly modified the ad, letter or pitch that works the best, but continue to experiment to find an even better method.
