A LIBertarian LETters-to-the-editor email/fax distribution network (LIBLET) has been established to distribute libertarian Letters-To-the-Editor (LTE), press releases (PR) and articles or opinion pieces (ART) to every media outlet with an email address or fax modem at essentially no cost. We have 1,578 email addresses and fax numbers for newspapers, magazines, journals, radio and TV stations and networks, universities and wire services that are receptive to receiving LTEs, PRs and ARTs via email or fax. Since the wire services and networks distribute to thousands of media, our coverage is much larger than would be indicated by the number of our contacts. Some media will only accept LTEs from their local distribution area. Hence the need for a national hierarchy of libertarians to "localize" LTEs by replacing street addresses and telephone numbers with a local ones. In the case of faxes, signatures are required, so the names must be replaced by those for whom the local LIBLET distributor has scanned signatures. (The more such local signatures and addresses, the better, because one author will not be allowed to dominate a publication.) 112 of our email addresses and 111 or our fax numbers are not being used, because we lack the LIBLET State, Area code and Prefix distributors necessary to localize the LTEs to the satisfaction of those media. Please help. With a few minutes of your time every two or three days, you can make the libertarian message widely available and make it appear that a majority of Americans are libertarians. How does LIBLET work? Libertarian LTEs, PRs and ARTs are exclusively emailed to the current LIBLET national distributor. As the LIBLET National distributor, I perform the following tasks: 1. Check the message to make sure it is libertarian and not from competing interests. 2. Copy the text of your message and paste it into a new email message (some media hate forwarded email). 3. Email it as a blind copy to the foreign and national media that have no locality restrictions. 4. Email it as a blind copy to the media that restricts its sources to California or San Diego County. 5. Fax it to San Diego County. 6. Forward it to the LIBLET State distributors for localization and further distribution. 7. Forward it to the LIBLET Area code distributors in California for localization and further distribution. Tasks 6 and 7 are where your time is needed. We need LIBLET State distributors for the states not listed here. We need LIBLET Area code distributors for the area codes not listed here. Contact the State distributors to add yourself to their list. We need Area code distributors to off-load those who are currently distributing to more than one area code. Contact the LIBLET Area code distributor to arrange for a re-allocation of distribution responsibility. Please advise the National Distributor of any changes. This is an old list!
If someone would like to assume the role of LIBLET National distributor and someone else would like to assume the role of LIBLET California State distributor, they are welcome to those jobs. Maintaining the media data base is practically a full-time job by itself. Those interested in being LIBLET distributors, please email the National Distributor. He will add you to his LIBLET distribution list, sort the media list by your state or area code, and email the appropriate portion of the list and the LIBLET instructions to you. Since some email programs replace tabs with spaces and some of the data fields include comas, the data will be asterisk (*) delimited. Globally replace all asterisks with tabs with your word processor and you can import the data into any spread sheet, data base, email or fax program. |
