U.S. Government Turning America Into A Second Class Country
WFL News Release - August 1996
According to the World Future Society, "a society that spends more government
money than it raises in taxes, that consumes more than it produces, that borrows
more than it saves, that imports more than it exports, is a society on its way to
second-class status."
Due to the reckless and abusive spending by government, our economic growth rate
(2%) has fallen far behind countries like Chile, New Zealand and China. America
is trailing behind the 6-12% growth rates other countries are enjoying, for one reason
and one reason only -- government intrusion by way of overtaxation and ovverregulation
is crippling entrepreneurial efforts. Of the top 15 developed nations, the U.S.
ranked 12th in gross domestic product (GDP) and 15th in savings.
Declining income and a low savings rate is a direct result of higher taxes. Under
Clinton's administration alone, an American family of four is paying an additional
$1,500 each year in taxes. If you include all sources of taxation, government takes,
on average, 50-60% of each dollar you earn. The government's own statistics show
that you are paying twice as much in taxes in 1995 than you were in 1955. It doesn't
take a leap of faith to wonder why families are falling apart and why even double-income
households are having trouble making ends meet. The reasoning is quite simple.
The more government takes from you, the less you and your family have to use and
spend.
In a recent speech to Hollywood moguls, Al Gore arrogantly took credit for the 40,000
new jobs created by the movie industry while criticising them for creating the Power
Rangers. For the record, neither the "morally disqualified" Clinton nor
the "intellectually disabled" Gore have, in their lifetimes, ever created
a job, produced anything of value, nor added to America's economic growth. They
lack the skills needed for the job. Both are government addicts, sucking at the
teat of everflowing tax dollars--your money.
Once tooting the horn for "small government," the Clinton administration
has done a 180 degree turnabout. Calling for ever increasing regulations and skyrocketing
federal payrolls and higher taxes, Clinton and his gang continue to destroy the liberty
of each and every American. A recent issue of Wired Magazine gave Clinton the worst
rating amongst all Presidential candidates in last November's election with respect
to supporting free speech and First Amendment issues. Clinton promoted the Clipper
Chip, TV program monitoring, and even suggested some regulation of the Internet.
Once heralded as the bastion of free speech and freedom of expression, WFL sadly
reports that actions taken by this administration are sadly turning America into
a second-class country.
